History
Mount Campbell Communications Limited is a family owned business now in its second generation having operated since the mid 1950’s.
From when the late Lou Wensley bought a small radio business and moved to in Motueka in 1954, to the present day, the Wensley business has operated continuously based on commercialising technical developments particularly with radio technology. The company’s development and point of difference is driven by technical excellence in radio communications.
Since 1986 the business has been operated by Lloyd Wensley (Lou’s son), Lloyd bought the business in 1995.
Today the core business drivers are radio sales, service and network services.
Mount Campbell Communications Limited now employ over 10 staff who are well trained and equipped to sell and service the latest mobile radio equipment and particularly the New Zealand designed and manufactured Tait brand. The business is operated from its purpose-built facility at 108 Quarantine Road, Nelson.
Lloyd and his team have built the business based on prompt efficient servicing of our customers’ requirements.
The networks side of the business – Mount Campbell Connect Limited – now operates radio services from 23 sites throughout Nelson, Marlborough, Tasman and Golden Bay. TCP/IP linking facilitates many new features available with digital technology.
The service workshop is equipped with the most modern servicing equipment so that problems can be diagnosed and rectified quickly. Ongoing training of staff means they are continually brought up-to-date with the most modern technologies.
A separate company, Mount Campbell Networks Limited owns one of the largest privately owned communications and broadcast facilities in New Zealand. The site comprises a 63 m lattice steel tower, 100 square metre building, power supply and 80 kVA engine alternator set. It is sited to the west of Motueka on Mount Campbell at an altitude of 1330 m.
